It's Fall, 2007 and the South Florida market is slower than slow... and then there's Serge Kay. Our Bal Harbour condo was listed in mid-September and closed in mid-October at the high end of our anticipated price range--thanks to Serge's artful negotiating skills. We could barely keep pace with the transaction.
Backing up a step or two, we selected Serge after interviewing four brokers. He shone. Interestingly, three of the brokers, including Serge, interpreted the market data very similarly, and the list price recommendations--and selling price expectations--were comparable. Serge was not only spot-on with pricing, but also unique in terms of marketing prowess and "smarts." During the initial walk-through he asked all the right questions, and was far more observant and thoughtful than his colleagues . It didn't surprise me to learn that he was a successful attorney in a former life. A beautiful virtual tour was posted on the Internet before the ink on our agreement was dry, and Serge was available day and night throughout the process. We're from out-of-town, so we also asked Serge to recommend an attorney, which he did--and the lawyer did a terrific job as well.
When we first saw Serge's website, we were wondering if he would answer the phone himself. After all, he is #1. We know why.
